Do you sell instrumentation? A couple of insightful articles in ControlGlobal.com address the cost saving and green benefits of instrumentation in manufacturing and are great selling tools in your arsenal.
In her excellent article, Instrumentation as a Foundation for Profit, Julie Fraser, President of Cambashi, an industry analyst, market research and consulting company focused on the use of technology makes a strong case for the cost benefit of instrumenting production processes. Citing statistics from the newly released MESA-Cambashi research study, Correlating Plant Performance to Business Performance, Fraser states, “It's clear that good business performance in the plant is a common characteristic of companies that improved their business or financial performance significantly. Looking behind the data and listening to the respondents we interviewed by telephone, it's also clear that instrumentation is at the core of a producer's ability to increase profitability.”
Dean Minehart, ABB’s instrumentation strategic account manager for the oil and gas market, states that instrumentation can minimize environmental impact so the environment is protected, and can increase asset availability and ROI so the shareholders are protected. In his presentation on “Green Instrumentation Engineering Practices,” at ABB Automation and Power World, Minehart examined how instrumentation choices affect such business outcomes as energy efficiency, environmental emissions and maintenance effectiveness.
